What this tool does not do
Japanese collation follows the browser, so kana and voicing marks can order slightly differently across environments. Values that are not pure numbers (“approx. 1,200”) are compared as text.
FAQ
“1,200” sorts before “320”
Turn on numeric comparison. Thousands separators and surrounding spaces are ignored so the values compare by magnitude.
What is the second key for?
It orders rows that tie on the first column — for example, group by department and then sort by name inside each group.
How are dates handled?
YYYY-MM-DD, 2026/1/5 and 2026年1月5日 are all recognised as dates and sorted chronologically.
Where do empty cells go?
They collect at the end in both directions, so you never get a wall of blanks at the top.
