JSON editor

Walk the structure as a collapsible tree and beautify, minify, escape or decode on the spot. Switch tabs to convert JSON to CSV or diff two JSON documents — all inside your browser, nothing uploaded.

How to use

  1. Paste JSON or choose a .json file.
  2. Press “Parse & show tree” to walk the structure, then use beautify, minify, escape and the rest.
  3. Switch to the “JSON → CSV” tab to convert, or “JSON Diff” to compare two documents.

What this tool does not do

The tree and the diff are for inspection. Very large JSON (over ~1M characters) shows a capped number of tree nodes. JSON to CSV expects an array of objects (or JSON Lines); arrays nested directly inside rows are stored as JSON strings in one cell.

FAQ

What is the difference between beautify and minify?
Beautify adds indentation and line breaks for readability; minify strips all whitespace into a single line. The JSON content itself never changes.
What happens to nested JSON when converting to CSV?
With “flatten nesting” on, nested keys become dotted column names like address.city. Arrays inside a row are stored as JSON strings in one cell.
Can I paste JSON Lines (.jsonl)?
Yes — one record per line is detected automatically and read as an array.
How detailed is the diff?
Differences are reported per dot-notation path: if user.name changed, you see “user.name: before → after”, marked as added, removed or changed.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Parsing, converting and comparing all happen in your browser; nothing is sent to a server.
